Earthchild is a small Sussex based School dedicated to the education of the ancient traditions of this land.
A contemporary fusion of Druid lore and Ovate practices.

The School was founded by Shane Gadd after studying earth based traditions since around 1991. Shane has spent time with many teachers as well as being a member of the order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. Shane feels his greatest teacher has been the spirit, the land itself. Shane feels enriched by his many experiences and whilst books contain knowledge it is the getting out into and amongst the land. That has the greatest wisdom for us. The School reflects this in its hands on approach and its pride of facilitating experiences that often allow direct teaching form the land itself. This has always been the source of this oral tradition. The tradition of Druid lore and Ovate Magik.

The Wise Craft school is derived from the tradition of Magikal orders rather than from the tradition of religious orders. Neither the Order nor Druidry or the Ovate path is a cult. A cult revolves around a personality or a particular deity or saint. The School and its Order have none of these characteristics.

Membership of theSchool is open to those who seek a practical hands on experience with the old and ancient earth based traditions of this land.
Both the Feminine and the Masculine principles are celebrated and represented in the schools teachings and membership. Just as Druid lore and Ovate teachings live in a state of balance.
Although most members practise their own path our aim is to bring people together and experience the old ways .

This is done through the Schools gatherings, retreats, conferences and workshops.

Membership allows you access to the members-only website where you can post your bio and interests, view and post photos, articles and access the forums.

Basic Membership is free so you can get a feel of the site. Premium Membership is only £25 a year.

Their are great benefits to membership and once you enrol you also become a member of a wider community - a Fellowship of Druids and Ovates and those who wish to follow the old traditions of this land. Connecting you to a community of like minded people.

There are many such as moon walks and Sabbats . A ever evolving journey of spirit , and the land As well as a working Grove.

Oakmoon - The schools newsletter

The newsletter is published on every Sabbat and posted on the web in the news page. It includes a indepth understanding of the energy of the time and place. Insights to creating ones own ritual / meditation for the particular Sabbat. As well as the legendary Magiakl brew reciepe, once again based on the time of year and the Magik of time and place. We aslo ask members to share their stories and experiences as their journey unfolds.

The School's Internet Community

The School also offers an Internet community to any member who wants to enjoy cyber communication with other members. A private website with biographies, photos, archives and more is available to assist and support members and many different discussion groups offer the opportunity to communicate with others.

IN TIME TO COME

Sabbat retreats and camps
In time to come we hope to hold our own camps and retreats on around some of the sabbats such as Beltane and Samhauin. We hope to have our own yurts and to involve everyone. We explore the energy of time and place have storytelling and music-making around the fire, hold ceremonies and create magikal adventures. We've developed a way of exploring and 'entering into' the old stories and myths so that they become exciting and educational. We hold sweat lodge rituals and initiations and big communal ceremonies under the stars.
